Spoiler I hated most of this mainly because I don't like cheating stories. I enjoy the banter, but I really can't get past the cheating. Will's death also seemed kinda "for the plot" only thing. I'm still having mixed emotions with this one. Maybe a reread is needed to properly evaluate this. I'll update my rating if I do reread this.

Not to my liking. I felt that the story drag too long and geez girl, that guy had a girlfriend..back off.

Oh and plot twist!

I always thought she would end up with Luis from the start so yeah. I don’t feel the spark between her and Will.

This took me ages to read.

I was so there for this romance and then tragedy happens and I was like nope nope. I'm not in the mood.

Its still a nice ending its just sad at the same time.

I find the plot to be engaging. Formula 1 as a theme for a story is very new and fresh, even though this was published years ago. I have never come across a book that explores the world of Formula 1 in such detail and feels kind of realistic in a way. However, I find the pace too achingly slow, to the point that I have lost interest, especially in the first part—I just skimmed it, tbh.
Spoiler There was a big twist in it that really shocked me, but I just wonder: is it really necessary? because in the latter part of the book, I find the consequences of the occurrences lacking in depth
. idk, but it feels like the author rushed through the aftermath of the twist. As for the characters in this book, they all lack nuance, and they are all unlikeable except for Daisy's Italian grandmother. Overall, I would recommend the book if you're into Formula 1 (like me) and for the romance and cute moments in it, I guess.

The cover (and what a pretty, cheerful cover it is!) proclaims it to be "...summer's poolside reading sorted." Now, I don't have a pool, but I have a garden, and I spent two lovely days in the blazing sun, with a rapidly warming drink by my side, and this book clutched firmly in my hands. I had a lot of trouble putting it down. More than 400 pages, and it was over too damn fast!

First of all, I loved the setting. Daisy is part of the catering crew for a Formula 1 racing team, and we get to travel the world with her and the team. All I know about racing is what I learned on Top Gear (possibly not the best source), but the setting felt very realistic. (The author's father was a racing car driver, so she should know, I suppose.) There is just enough technical information about the cars and the drivers and the tracks to keep it plausible and interesting, but it never gets to the point where it tips over to boring.

Daisy is a wonderful and very sympathetic heroine. I'm very pleased with the fact that we don't get a huge information dump at the first page, but that we get to know her more and more as the book progresses. Overall, the characters are very well written. I adore Holly, the best friend, Luis, the cocky Brazilian driver, and Daisy's loving Italian grandmother, and the entire gallery of tertiary characters. I was a bit wary of Will, the object of Daisy's affection, at first, but he grew on me.

Often, plot development relies on a character turning out to be something completely different from what they appeared to be at first, but thankfully Paige Toon gets by without that rather cheap trick. No one has to turn into a complete bitch, which is remarkably refreshing. And she still manages to surprise me. There were a couple of plot twists that I did not see coming at all!

It's a very funny book, the dialogue is hilarious at times, but it still managed to get me to shed a tear here and there. Granted, that's not very hard, but still.

If you're looking for something to help you pass a few days in the sun, then I can definitely recommend Chasing Daisy. It was an absolute joy to read!
