Two new characters are introduced here, and I'm not at all surprised by how they're characterized. The female character, who was barely introduced earlier in the series, is set up as nothing more than a pawn to be used, just like Misa. Likewise, this stalemate between Light, Mellow, and Near seems to have only gotten more convoluted at this point that characters need to start dying. While this is great in the grand scheme of things as the plot is slowly starting to unravel, I feel that it needs to happen a bit faster. Light needs to be put in more predicaments, but most of it just seem repetitive. Also, we need more shinigami involvement.

Light cheating on Misa and being a general misogynist pissed me off, therefore 4 stars

I really liked the new character and the character that was brought back from the past. They definitely gave the story some freshness that it needed.
