So, late last night, I couldn't sleep, having just finished a really good book, causing my mind to be very much awake. I knew that I wanted to read to wind my brain down, but I didn't want to read anything intense or long. Then, when I saw this book when flicking through the carousel on my Kindle, I knew it was finally time to pick it up.
I bought this book pretty much when it was released, but I never actually got around to reading it until now. This book managed to remind me how much I truly like, and respect Cody Simpson. Whilst many people view him simply as a teen pop-star, many forget how young he actually is:
At the age of 13, Cody was offered a record deal, and at the same age released his first single, and first EP. He then went on to release his first album at 15, his second at 16, and a third acoustic album again at 16. Finally, he released his most recent album at the age of 18 earlier this year. This is more success than many artists ever achieve, yet Cody is humble, mellow, and has never let it go to his head like many young stars have done in the past.
That is what I like about Cody Simpson.
This book isn't bragging rights, or simply a quick story telling how Cody came into the light, but instead a story of how a 13-year-old aspiring Olympic swimmer leaped at the chance to become a recording artist. Nothing in Cody's life has been handed to him on a plate - he has worked for it all, and this book truly reflects his determination when it comes to music.
Cody Simpson deserves every success.
