I thought this book was going to be better then it was. I am not a fan. I really don't like when authors make the lead female character to be such an idiot. How is that going to make young female readers feel better about themselves when they read a book about a girl who is boy crazy over this one boy and dies. then even after death she is still crushing on this boy. I hope young girls realize that a crush is not life or death.

INSTANT dnf, not only is this giving woe-is-me pick me vibes, but on page like 21 they introduce an obviously special needs "referred to as slow" character who they only call A/V retard. That's gross. Fck this book.

I am quite unsure why I even bothered finishing this story. Charlotte's purpose to pass the eternal life, was a freaking boy. Is that really all that was left for her? The author didn't even bother giving her a backstory and a glimpse of her family in the afterlife. I mean?? Who wouldn't miss their family after being dead??? I'm confucionism???

the design of this book is awesome-- the cover, artwork, song lyrics, silver-edged pages, etc. the story was a bit underwhelming and didn't always make sense, plus the writing wasn't so hot. (misplaced modifiers!) it's a trendier version of 'elsewhere' by zevin: teen girl dies young in tragic accident and has trouble letting go of life. the professional reviews prepared me for something more mind-blowing.

ghostgirl was a fun ride, though artificial feeling at times. It is labeled as Teen Fic, so that might account for the distance I felt from the main character and writing style. Cookie cutter characters, but still enjoyable. It felt a bit like a bad 80s movie, and thats how the ghostgirl played in my head. By the end of the book, I was genuinely drawn in, and curious where it was going.

The most interesting thing about this book is its look. Each page is decorated with flowers and each chapter starts with a picture and a quote. The cover is fun and metallic, and it it taller and thinner than the average book. It added something to the whole experience of the book, and it was cool to have that.

I was torn between giving this four or five stars... In the end I settled for 4 because at the beginning I didn't get into Charlotte's character. I got more used to her as the story went on, and by the end I rather liked her. I liked the quite gruesome edge to the book (with the creepy-looking Dead Kids e.t.c.). Also, the copy leant to me was beautiful, which always helps!
