This is just a disappointing book tbh. If you are here for smut sure its fine, but if you are here for plot or character development look somehere else. Could not tell you a single thing about the MMC other than he had magic aphrodesiac sperm that undermines the frequent conversations about consent.

Being a huge romantasy fan, there is no surprise I loved this book. I can’t believe I haven’t picked up more JLA but granted I was consumed with the maasverse last year so I think 2024 is going to be the year of jla because oh my goodness was this a good one. I loved the dystopian vibe and the magic in this one is unique. The world building wasn’t too complex to follow but i can tell there will be more to come in this series. Calista is an interesting fantasy MFC, she’s not this complete badass lead I feel we normally get, and I liked it. She’s ‘normal’ for the most part and she’s working to survive in a world that is tough for mortals. Thorne, on the other hand, is a very typical Fantasy MMC. He is magical, strong, powerful and morally grey. On top of all the fantastical pieces, the spice... incredible. obsessed.

I reallllllly liked this book. It kept my attention the whole time. I would be working and thinking of this book, would wake up in the morning excited to find time to read this book. I can’t tell you what exactly it is about it that I love so much. This book has me in a trance and I NEED more NOW! When is the second book being released?!?!?!?!? HELP ME I NEED IT
