almost dnf @50%, but the second half was way better. I saw so many reviews saying “so this is what a jla book is like with a proper editor!” but the editing was no where to be found, in the first half especially.

I just finished this and I demand book 2! Gah I cannot believe I will have to wait for this but it is so worth it!
The writing has definitely grown since early fbaa but my goodness was this a great story. If you like the vibe of fbaa then you will definitely like this book too.

This book is literally a copy/paste of her other books BUT I ate it up anyway

Honestly went a little feral for prince Thorne and while I really enjoyed the book, I know at some point maybe 2 more books into the series I’m gonna be rereading and thinking about all the unanswered questions and plot holes

This book was 80% spice and then politics, magic and world building the last 80 or so pages. It would have been great if we had a little less spice and a bit more story building, magic system uncovering, and plot throughout

She really has nailed the formula. A lot of this book felt a little repetitive, both with itself and her other series (just with less character/plot development imo). However, why fix what’s not broken? I was about halfway through when I realized nothing had ~*really*~ happened yet. But the last 15% had me on the edge of my seat and it definitely left me wanting for the next book! I think this book is setting up the rest of the series and I’m really excited to see where it goes!
