1.75
This is the second book by Santa Montefiore I read, after reading Secrets of the Lighthouse 7 years ago. Probably, my reading taste has changed quite drastically since then, but whilst I gave Secrets of the Lighthouse 4 stars, I can only bring myself to awarding 1.75 to the Beekeeper's Daughter. I quite liked the main characters Trixie and her mother Grace in both timelines, but the tropes in this book just made me cringe. Why must it always be ? I mean, it just makes the female characters weaker to me. Also, this book is so, so sacharine that even my romance loving heart thought it too much. And then the last 10-20 pages came and I was screaming NO into my e-reader. Just NO!
Such a quick wrap-up with a bow that I found emotionally very unrealistic that it ruined the entire book for me.
