1.75

This is the second book by Santa Montefiore I read, after reading Secrets of the Lighthouse 7 years ago. Probably, my reading taste has changed quite drastically since then, but whilst I gave Secrets of the Lighthouse 4 stars, I can only bring myself to awarding 1.75 to the Beekeeper's Daughter. I quite liked the main characters Trixie and her mother Grace in both timelines, but the tropes in this book just made me cringe. Why must it always be
Spoiler the married man finally succumbing to his desire and kissing the woman
? I mean, it just makes the female characters weaker to me. Also, this book is so, so sacharine that even my romance loving heart thought it too much. And then the last 10-20 pages came and I was screaming NO into my e-reader. Just NO!
Such a quick wrap-up with a bow that I found emotionally very unrealistic that it ruined the entire book for me.
