This was a slow read and parts definitely could’ve been cut  particularly in the past, I felt some major plot points were rushed while less important points tediously drug on. <spoilers ahead> More details about the actual villain would be nice but it’s completely glazed over quickly toward the end, meanwhile you know far more than you need to about her extremely boring and emotionally stunted daughter in the first two parts. We get it, she’s timid and weak. Plenty of twists and turns, definitely worth the read just have to push past all of the political droning and the daughter’s nonexistent personality. Looking forward to seeing how she’s portrayed on the show.

I really enjoyed this one. It’s been a while since I read a thriller with great PACING (so many lately have felt endlessly slow) and Pieces of Her hits a real sweet-spot. Slaughter manages to balance the tone of both timelines quite well, so neither feels boring or arduous. Tense, darkly funny, and exciting enough to make me want to seek out more of her novels.

This gritty thriller was worth staying up late into the night.
