When I first read this book, I was so excited! I loved reading the Sorcerer’s Stone and couldn’t wait to read book 2. I first read them in middle school, and disliked reading but these books were really interesting, and I loved them! Back then, it took me a few months to read each book, now it takes me a few days. Now, having read all of them a few times, this book is just mid in my opinion. It gives more world-building and backstory on the overall plot that follows all 7 books but there are definitely better books in the series.

The movie version of this book is neither the best nor the worst. As the books get longer, the movies have to leave out more and more things. This one was good in that a lot was kept but also was just a mediocre movie compared to some of the other ones.

Favorite Quotes:
“of all the trees we could’ve hit, we had to get the one that hits back!” - Ron Weasley (book)
“I’ll be in my bedroom, making no noise, pretending that I don’t exist.” - Harry Potter (movie)
“Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.” - Hermione Granger (movie)

Another great installment in the series! I like this one because it is the beginning of some of the darker elements we see in the series.
It is also our low-key introduction to the horcruxes…and we see how to destroy them too! I love rereading these and seeing this moment again, because it is so cleverly written. It makes so much sense by the time we get to the last book.

I swear each time I read this book Lockhart becomes more and more insufferable, haha. He is actually the worst and I hate how cocky he is when he knows noTHING. Either he or Umbridge have to be the worst characters in this series hahaha.

I genuinely love this book and love getting to know our main characters on an even deeper and more personal level. The character development is already happening early on in the series for Harry, Ron, & Hermione, which leads the way for the rest of the series. I love the way that they learn and grow each installment of the series. It really turns them into the people that they are meant to be by the end of the series.

Overall, I have always loved Chamber of Secrets because the last quarter of this book is actually insane. So much happens and the climax of this book is impossible to put down. It sucks you into the world and has you screaming and begging that Harry is going to make it. This is another installment that just makes me instantly want to pick up the next book in the series. Time for Prisoner of Azkaban now! I rate this book 5/5 stars! 🌟

This book is not my favorite Harry Potter novel but reading the series again makes me notice some details that foreshadow important plot points in later books. I think they are cleverly integrated. I do think this book takes some time before any questions about the mysterious situation at Hogwarts are answered. Many questions that don’t seem to connect to each other surface up until the lays quarter or so of the novel.
