Great book. Loved the characters, loved the plot. Loved the writing style. The main character, Nick Heller, is a private eye whose brother goes missing, due to a level of involvement in some corporate finance shenanigans. The suspense was great, the corporate finance stuff wasn't ridiculously over my head so it wasn't enjoyable, and the main character was a fun rough-around-the-edges kind of guy who had a sweet side too. Excellent vacation read. Looking forward to reading the next Nick Heller book, Buried Secrets.

A decent book, but not as good as the rest of his. I'd give most of his books at least a 4, but this one just a middle of the road 3.

Got me through a road trip but a bit of a disappointing ending. I figured it out much earlier than the author intended so it wasn't a big twist for me.

Long winded, full of cliches and repetitions. I had to force myself through it to see if it got better. It did not.

Decent thriller. Moved nicely, better than average character development. Narrator very similar to Scott Brick.

Strong start, fast paced (every chapter seems to end with something that makes you want to read the next one), but it seemed to fizzle at the end. What started as a mystery ends as a bad action movie and things wrap up too neatly. Overall it was an enjoyable read but I was hoping for more substance.

Vanished was a fairly good first book for an action/thriller series. Main character Nick Heller was a guy with good skills. Finder wrote in short sentences and chapters that made the book move quickly. The mystery and twists were adequate but not amazing. A solid three stars and enough to give the next book in the series a spot on the to read list.

This book was exactly what I was hoping for. Fast-paced, entertaining and pretty dumb. I think comparing it to Dan Brown's books is fair. A lot happens, there's never a dull moment and you should put your higher brain functions to hibernate while reading. If, like me, this is eaxctly what you sometimes want, then I recommend this book.

GREAT MYSTERY read!! Loved this book. I stumbled across Joseph Finder first with Buried Secrets and had to read the first Nick Heller book! Nick Heller is an investigator that was trained in Special Forces. In this book his nephew calls to say his mother is in a coma and his step-father (Nick's brother) has gone missing. If you like a good mystery thriller READ this!

I like the character of Nick Heller. He's smart, independent, and determined (all traits parents deplore in teenagers but which are admirable in adults). It's unusual to find a book which successfully alternates between first-person and third, which added to my enjoyment of this one.

If you're listening to the audiobook version, Holter Graham is a good narrator and well-suited to this series.

This author is definitely going on my "keep reading" list. I actually saw book 2 before book 1 (wretched library cataloging system inconsistencies) but each is really a standalone.
