my mother says if I don't have anything nice to say I shouldn't say anything at all and so therefore this concludes my review of this book

This was my first Tessa Bailey book and it was not my cup of tea. I liked the premise. I also liked the female main character and the little girl that the male main character was taking care of. I thought the idea behind lwhy he was taking care of her was really interesting and I enjoyed the idea of the contractor love interest, but the male main character was just so unattractive to me. He was possessive to an uncomfortable degree and then that was explained away as a product of his foster care childhood, like not growing was hot or something. The FMC just accepted this and pretended like it was amazing that he was so stunted. This was written in a way that was really simplistic but also supposed to be very adult - which made it cringey at times. I may or may not give Tessa Bailey another chance. This probably isn’t the greatest representation of her work, but I am not sure if I’m willing to find out what is after reading this.

didn’t realize this was the third book in a series and I don’t think this is supposed to be read as a stand-alone. too alpha male for me. will never ever be able to reconcile a man who calls women “females” more than once, even if he is a sweet foster parent to his niece.  Wes just seems super horny (again, maybe just missed crucial build up from the rest of the series) and Bethany is just … there.

just going to pretend that a different Tessa Bailey wrote these for now, even though I love her writing style.
