These books are definitely getting better bit by bit. I still have a lot of issues with the series but the plot is very gripping (when it’s not at a stand still because we have to watch the main characters be senselessly bullied and harassed) and I actually am enjoying the plot twists. I’m not gonna lie, I gasped a few times throughout reading this and I love a good cliffhanger. I’m actually glad I continued the series but now that I’ve made it this far… I’m going to have to read all the books. I’m just in too deep now. They’re addicting.

The overly descriptive writing is starting to wear on me—I find myself skimming paragraphs, which I guess is more about the writing style than the actual story. That said, the plot in this book felt a bit repetitive, with the Heirs still tormenting the Vega twins. However, I did enjoy the deeper focus on the shadows and how the twins are trying to control this fifth element.
I’m loving Geraldine and Max—their bickering is hilarious. As for Darcy and Orion, I’ve never been the biggest fan of forbidden romance, so while I don’t dislike them, I’m not as invested.
That said, with Orion’s sister Clara revealed as the Shadow Princess, I suspect she’ll have a much bigger role in the next book.
The Christmas scene was a nice break, showing that the twins and the Heirs can actually get along. I also hope we see more of Xavier in the coming books.
But let’s be honest—the real reason I’m still here is Tory and Darius. Finally, we got some intense, steamy moments between them…
only for my heart to break when they became Star-Crossed in the final chapters. I need to see how this plays out because rejecting the Elysian bond doesn’t exactly seem like a minor inconvenience.
I just hope the next book gives us some hope for them and forces these Fae to work together.
Communication is definitely an issue at times, but then again, what do you expect from a bunch of teenagers?

This cliffhanger is so bad that I literally have nothing that makes me want to keep reading.
The authors have a bad habit throughout the series of being repetitive with their descriptions. The lack of growth in certain characters really makes me want to drop kick my Kindle.  <Spoiler>There's slow burn and then there's never going any where but leading you on anyway. </Spoiler>

I don't think anybook that I can name over 20 different  content warnings for could be recommended. Also, weird to have condemnation arc for main characters.

I have very mixed feelings about this book. For most of the book it felt like the characters had regressed and I was basically reading book 2 all over again. All the gaslighting and falling for the gaslighting was getting quite tedious. I had decided to take a break from the series after this book. But these books also keep throwing me some curveballs and just when I think I know what’s coming, I am pleasantly surprised. The ending sucked me right back in.

The ending had me in a chokehold…I can’t wait to read the next book.
I love the twins but in this book I had a little love hate for Tory.
