This was a really lovely read. Sam, Sadie, and Marx are lovely and deeply developed characters. I appreciated the author’s writing style which gave us details and perspectives from multiple point-of-views, which for me created a rich story about these friends, co-creators, colleagues, and lovers.

The view into the world of gaming in the 90s and 2000s was an interesting backdrop - it really made me appreciate the artistry and creative process of video games as an art form.

Most of all, this book made me feel all the feels, and I’m thankful for that.

I feel like I’m now spoiled, because I’m hard pressed to find a book with characters that seemed more like people than Sam and Sadie and Marx. You can analyze this book and point out tropes and conventions, but it would feel like such a disservice. This book was so well written, and I truly don’t know if there are characters I care more about. Jesus H Christ, I cried for 100+ pages of this book, and I thanked it for it!!!! Gabrielle Zevin please let me know where I can send fan mail and forward my therapy bills, thank you.
