Continuously building creep and dread, especially in the first two-thirds. I can get why the last act is polarizing, and will certainly grant its not the same kind of horror as the rest, but I found it effective.

In the beginning the book was spooky but at the end it just didn't do it for me. I think the plot twist at the very last pages was boring and was a bit predictable.

This ghost story is very well written, and very terrifying! I love the combination of crime, mystery, and ghost story, and the ending is chilling. It's such a pity that the book is so hard to find these days, and that the only edition in print that I could find has an absolutely terrible cover, with no relation at all to the actual contents of the book.

This story sucks you right in. You know that Naomi will die, horrifically, but how the events unfold are chilling. The way the ghosts and possessions occur... The descriptions of the events... Recommend this to all my ghost loving friends. There are some difficult scenes and I really like how Jonathan Aycliffe alluded to more then describe them in detail of the more brutal happenings. There are some things to horrific to read and he played it out well.
