It is a good introductory book to gender and masculinity. Unfortunately I have read other books on the topic before this, which in hindsight was not the smartest move

I would recommend this book to any boy or man who hasn't encountered feminism before. This is a very gentle and accessible introduction to feminist thought and how it relates to men's lives and the construction of masculinities. If you're already familiar with gender studies, this might be a bit too basic for you, but I enjoyed reading this nonetheless. J.J. Bola's writing style is very soothing, kind, and vulnerable.

This book helps one to understand the complexity of patriarchy without judging man that are caught in this self destructive system.
It helped me personally to see problems with my masculinity and behaviour. Also JJ Bola showed me ways to heel and grow.
I can recommend this book to every man and women that want to understand the struggles with masculinity.

A good introductory text to masculinity without being too dense or long. Very approachable.

Great introductory read on masculinity, the negative impact of patriarchy on men, feminism and its positive impact on men, and the intersectionality of all of the above. Written by a young Congolese man living in the UK. It’s approachable, accessible, short (4 hour listen), clear and concise, but not so much so that it feels dumbed down. It’s smart, thoughtful, empathetic, and enjoyable. He closes out with 10 action items men can do to facilitate better relationships to masculinities, other men, and the world.
