Angela Quarles tells an interesting story of a woman who answers a Craigslist ad and ends up in 2nd century Scotland. Interestingly enough, the resources you had in your time translate back so Google searching helps her become a diviner, helping the tribe stay safe against enemies.
Taken beck in time to become the wife of the chief's son, Conall, Ashley must adjust to the male dominated culture while trying to help their women have more of a say in how things work.
Just when you think things are over, it takes a turn to a Happily Ever After.

This book was fine. It was a quick, fun listen. I started getting irritated when I paid attention to Ashley’s reasoning for wanting to go back to modern times.

Her life in her time was awful - working a dead end job to pay off bookies for her ex-husband, living in a hostel, no friends, no family. Her chief complaint in 156 AD was
that she didn’t get an equal say in how the tribe was run. Even if she had been a man, she wouldn’t have that.
Comparatively, I feel like it was a real stretch that she would want to go back to the future.

Connall’s tribe is short on women after a raid stole them away. So with a little magic and help from a local Druid, he gets sent to modern San Francisco to find a woman.

Ashley is desperate. Her ex husband built a ton of debt in her name and turned her family against her. She’s living in a podshare and trying to work off his debts. So when she sees an ad for a job in Scotland, she goes to the interview and is surprised she gets it.

Unfortunately she didn’t realize it wasn’t a job of cooking and cleaning, but a marriage to a man from 159 AD Dunadd.

I was hoping more time would be spent in the modern age, but it was mostly historical.

I liked how the magic made her understand their language, and it gave her the equivalent of what she packed. Since she had her phone and laptop, the equivalent was being a diviner. She could tell you what the weather was doing and major events from history - I thought that was clever.

I didn’t like how much she had to sacrifice for Connall. She makes the biggest sacrifice and the majority of the compromises. I wasn’t a fan of their romance. Just didn’t really feel any sparks.

**I received a copy of Some Like it Plaid from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. These are my opinions and were not solicited in any way**

Some Like it Plaid by Angela Quarles is what I hope it the first book in a series with the men of Connell's village. Ms. Quarles is a new author to me so I'm definitely going to check out her other books.

Being the eldest son of the Chief when a meeting is called to solve the lack of marriageable women in their village, Connell is chosen to go and find a solution. Their Druid Mungan offers to send one person into time and he volunteers. When he lands in San Francisco 2019 he doesn't understand why no one wants to be his wife. So with the help of Emperor Norton (Another story that is worth reading) he places an ad on Craigslist for a "Scottish Lass Wanted". Little does he know that when Ashley answers the ad that she'll have to adjust to 1292 AD where things are not equal to women. Can he be able to convince her that organizing the women of the village is not accepted in his time? When they are attacked again and Ashley disobeys his orders to rescue the elderly can he convince her to stay?

Ashley Miller is working 2 jobs and making jewelry for her Etsy shop to pay of her ex-husband's debts all while dodging bookies wanting money from said hubby's bad bets. When she answers Connell's ad and washing and cleaning really means you have do this and the bucket in the corner of the hut? Yep, that's the bathroom and it needs to be emptied daily. She'll have a signal tower built to warn everyone of an impending attack, help the elders escape plus transport a pregnant mom with a baby on the way get to the Castle Keep when she leaves it will be the women she helped tell him that he'd better convince Ashley to stay.

There are some books that are just silly and I can’t suspend my disbelief enough to get into them. I think I am not in the right mood for this, but I can see people enjoying it for the campiness of it.

This blurb had a ton of my catnip. Hot scot, time travel, woman on the run, special skills because romance

There is so much with this book that just did not work. The writing style was tough for me so I switched to audio. The narrator was just not for me either.

An interesting twist to time travel, I really enjoyed this book. It's well written and all the characters are amazing. I especially loved Collan and Ashley's characters. They're both strong characters but also, adorable in their own way.
Ashley is recently divorced and hiding from her ex-husband's creditors. Collan is looking for a wife to take back to his time. They're the unlikeliest couple and yet, perfect together. The only problem is that neither of them belongs in the other's time and country. Will they be able to bridge the differences that span through time or is their love story doomed from the start?
I find it an interesting and intriguing read. I am a fan of historical fiction but when you add time travel into the mix, I think the story becomes simply epic. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to all romance fans, especially those who like a good historical romance involving Scottish men in plaids. ;)

This book was a lot of fun. It was a gift from a friend and I've never read anything by this author. The author takes you from busy present day San Francisco and transports you back to before 200 AD in Scotland (not called that back then). Read to learn what it takes a city girl to adjust to living before the times of central air, technology and what we know as shoes and clothing. It is quite an adjustment, but with a handsome highlander by her side to protect her, maybe a little magic to the past will change her outlook on life. Fun book, worth the read if you like a little romance mixed with history.
