“Está bien equivocarse, pero no debes tener miedo de eso”

El ambiente en el que la historia se desenvuelve traspira este aire de misterio y pareciera que los colores de la portada se transportan a la imaginación del lector, es imposible no imaginarse los sucesos en esta gama de colores un poco oscura, y cabe aplaudir la facilidad con la que Kevin Brooks nos ayuda a representar estos escenarios y personajes en nuestra mente.

I know that right now the idea of getting over it is unimaginable. It's impossible, inconceivable, unthinkable. You don't want to get over it. Why should you? It's all you've got.

was this the best book i've ever read? no. did i enjoy it? yeah! an easy read, good pacing, and a compelling enough story to make me want to finish it once i started. some of the dialogue feels so unnatural but it's not so bad that it's unbearable.

Wow I am getting through my TBR my physical one I remember when I picked this book up quite a few years ago at the charity shop and I've only just got around to reading it so this is about Caitlin McCann how she meet lucas the first time she saw him was when her dad was driving and they were going across sort of a bridge and she couldn't keep her eyes off him they were picking up her brother Damian I think his name was she went out one day with her best friend Bob and Bob decided that they would go to a pub and I've got very good much drunk but not
Caitlin McCann on their way back home but needed to be ill so Vicky pulled over the car I think that's what her name was and when they pulled over her brother started throwing Stones at this person on the beach side and it was the same person she saw that day on the bridge we later find out that his name is Lucas I'm one day there's a girl who was drowning in the sea and Lucas save her and bring her back to shore but because she looked a bit indecent he decided to make sure she looked a bit more appropriate if you're not mean so she's not showing everything off to everyone around her but her mum got the wrong end of the stick and what he was trying to do something else I got to witness it was a really good rock and I'm glad that I had it I did also like the bunker by the same person

This is quite simply my favourite book, and one of the best i have ever read. I fear this may be because of my tendency to enjoy the odd mysterious teenage romance but kevin Brooks really put something in the water with this one. I truly and honestly felt so close to Lucas as a character and a person, he had a real effect on me. And I shan't exhaust the book with my damaging opinion but i cried like an abandoned child at the end. Brooks' writing is so fantastical that the kind of emotion i felt was indescribable and untouched by my human emotion. And it is true for some that its not the best book in the world I just think it was a personal thing that hit me hardest And i thought i'd stick up for it to those who gave it less than 5 stars.

So I picked up this book thinking it would be a light teenage romance novel - but it was much more than that. For me, this novel was absolutely brilliant. It's rare to find a novel that truly deals with certain issues, and really gets down into it - but this novel does. Not in a way that makes you uncomfortable, but a way that lets you see into what it's like. Brooks is an absolutely excellent author, and the way he characterized both Cait and Lucas was brilliant; you felt that Cait was at an awkward age between maturing and being a child - and Lucas was a 'lone wolf' and was mostly animal, full of instinct. Personally, I felt like I truly got under the skin of Cait, and I could relate to the relationship between her and Bill quite well. Even though I think I'm relatively mature, like Cait, I do have other friends that are like Bill, and want to try drugs and alcohol and sex and partying and all that, and I understand what a divide it can have on an otherwise strong friendship. The emotions from every character were so raw and real that I couldn't help forgetting that they are just fictional. It was a really great novel, and I would recommend it strongly to anyone 12+.

This book blew me away line after line. I love how descriptive the writing is and how exactly you can feel what the characters are feeling. I will definitely be picking up more by this author if they’re anything even remotely like this. I understand that this is an older book but would definitely recommend to heed trigger warnings (TW) due to content of sexual assault, drugs, drinking, violence and mentions of death.

I have always enjoyed Kevin Brooks's books, but this by far has to be my favorite. Something about this story changed the way I view the world and made it seem a little bit smaller. This brilliant work of fiction makes you think, but not in a way that's confusing. Things makes sense after diving into this story and only in a way that Brooks could explain it.
