I love Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child books, but I don't usually like books revolving around police, CIA, detectives, chase scenes, shootings, etc. This book had some of those elements. Still, I ended up liking the story because it also had things that I AM interested in: science, dinosaurs, paleontology, the desert Southwest, etc.

I like listening to audio books while walking, so I chose the audio version of Tyrannosaur Canyon. Although I liked this audio book as a whole, there was one thing that was occasionally a bit distracting to me about the narrator. His over-enunciation of certain words put me in mind of how people sound when they are first learning to read, or when they are struggling to read. That little quirk didn't keep me from enjoying this audio book though :-)

Much like the books he writes with Child..they start out a bit slow and then really start moving at about the half way mark.   I enjoyed the hero’s, and that the the hero’s are not all male.   And the chapters with Tyrannosaurus perspective may have been my favorite.

Exciting story in an interesting setting (high mesa area of New Mexico) with a little science mixed in.

I enjoyed the story told and am always up for these paleontological - action - murder mysteries. I gave it a four for the concept and story, but the writing is a three. It’s really repetitive and clunky. I’m reading through this series, so I hope it improved over time.

A good example of the thriller genre: a storyline with twists and andrenaline-inducing cliffhangers, characters that exemplify some stereotype--everything you'd expect from a thriller, no more, no less. It's lots of fun, though, and has enough intrigue to leave you puzzled and trying to make connections, and it all makes sense by the end. Believable? No. Life-changing? No. Exciting? Absolutely. Original? I've never read a story like this, and I enjoyed learning more about dinosaurs and the nature of their demise in an up-close-and-personal kind of way. Good stuff.

Summary: Dinosaur hunter finds T. Rex bones. Then we get parallel stories of a research scientist, killer, ex-CIA guy and civilian protagonist that all comes together in the end.

The writing was easy to read and follow. I got into it right away. I liked the plot a lot and though it stretched credulity at the end, I didn't guess the ending either. Overall a very pleasant read.
