I knew there was going to be an 8th book, as it was announced more than a month before this book was released.

And I am glad there will be, because the plot of this book was already all over the place without trying to add in a ... 4th story? 5th?

I felt a bit uncomfortable with the way the sisters were trying to track down the last sister, it felt very creepy at times and I can’t help feeling that everything could have been handled better.

It’s very suspicious that Georg keeps disappearing right when you need him.

I loved the historical parts of this book, as always, and once again it has made me really curious to learn more about this time in history and this conflict. What was different was that I definitely liked those parts more.

Mary’s story gets really confusing because of the way she doesn’t want to name several people and it muddied everything. Her story also isn’t over, because there is so much we still don’t know and that she doesn’t know either. I get why the letter doesn’t show up until the end, because there’s a lot of stuff Mary needed to know first, but I would have loved for there to be less of the uncomfortable man hunt and more of Mary exploring her past and her family history.

This comes after two of my favourites in the series, but this wasn’t it and I’m a bit sad about how some of the storylines were handled.

Am I going to read the last book? Absolutely! The mysteries of Pa Salt have always been my most eager questions... Though I guess now we have a name for him, even if everything else about him is a mystery.

I have been waiting for this one for quite some time. I’m so happy to have finally been able to learn about the Missing Sister.

The seven sisters has always been such an interesting series to me. I couldn’t wait to discover all of the stories behind each adoption and how it all worked out for not just the kids, but their birth families as well.

This Missing Sister, while written in the same general style, doesn’t start with the sister herself because well, she’s missing. So the other 6 sisters try to locate their missing seventh sister that never arrived to their little unconventional family. We follow the different sisters on their quest to speak with a woman they believe could be their seventh sister.

It’s quite interesting and emotional and I’m definitely curious about the next installment - Pa Salt’s story.

See the literary locations in The Missing Sister

Ooh you are in for a treat with this one!
A search which takes the sisters from New Zealand to London via Toronto and then IRELAND! Ireland and Irish history are the stars of the show. Lots of history around the Irish civil war, the troubles, the history and pride of the Irish people is wonderfully woven together with the Sister's stories. The Missing Sister will be revealed! What a story. So well researched, written and carefully crafted on so many layers. And that ending! Oh my. There's another book as Lucinda announced recently. The story of Pa Salt himself. After reading this installment in particular I CAN NOT WAIT for THAT!

I found it increadibly frustrating how dragged out this book was, it was as if the author wanted to make it as long as the other books, but went about it in the wrong way.
In the former books the stories were long, but it made sense, it took time for the characters to get the information. In this one, she kept dangeling the information we wanted right in front of our noses just to snatch it away several times, its obviously done to create suspence, but its done wrong, it just made me angry. And when we finally got the informations she kept snatching away earlier they were
anticlimatic, because the information was much more trivial then hinted at.
Also, this book made me angry with the characters, it was as if she sacrifised the characters to move the "plot" and to try to get them all involved, wich again was done wrong. I get what she wanted to do, but i feel like she rushed out an idea, and then kept with it when she rather should have made some big changes.

After waiting so long for this I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. But it has left me slightly deflated. The story didn’t grab me and the main reason for Merry leaving Ireland (no spoilers) just didn’t ring true to me. It seems very much to be a bridging book to the last and final book of the series.

That said I did enjoy it and I have preordered the final instalment already!

2.5 This series is near and dear to my heart. My mom and I have read and discussed all of the books and were looking forward to this “final installment” where we thought all
The questions of Pa and the Missing Sister would be solved. However- it was another origin story that only raised more questions! The writing was odd, the plot aimless and meandering, and it just didn’t feel like part of the series. The knowledge of the author being ill during the writing of this made me feel like maybe this was a ghostwriter. Still, the sisters and their intertwining lives kept me reading.
