This book is completely out of my wheel house and I had no idea what I was in for when I picked it up randomly for an English project (not the best book for said project, I will say that). I constantly think back to this book and it was just so cool and original and I've never read anything like it.

One of my favourite quotes ever - "The philosophers sit with half-opened eyes and compare the aestetics of time."

Einstein´s Dreams by Alan Lightman is not a traditional book but does a good job of still being creative and interesting. It reads like what it is--a collection of dreams, loosely tied together by the dreamer.

I'm tempted to give this five stars, but I read it a really long time ago, so I don't know for certain that Mike ca. 2008 would be as gung-ho about it as I was then. But I did love it. Especially recommended for fans of Calvino, Borges and the like.

I appreciate what the author was doing here... imagining the months leading up to Einstein's finishing his manuscript on his theory of Time while he was young and still employed in the patent office. This book reads like a collection of stories, his dreams that help exemplify his theories.
For the most part I enjoyed reading these examples, but I was a little impatient to finish.

Reread recently and brought up in conversation. One of my favorites in 'historical fiction'
