I missed Nora Roberts' touch and writing and this book was a really nice read.

it was okay. i liked fmc. i wasn’t fond of abduction story line.
i had issue with mmc never stopping when she said “no” multiple times on different occasions.

“No." Serena's voice sounded thin and far off. "No, don't."But he pressed his lips to hers to devour her trembling protests.”

Two dimly-lit stars. Also, two words come to my mind -
Rushed and Why
Why is everything so rushed? What's the hurry? There was instant attraction between Serena and Justin. Instead of letting it linger and crackle, I felt like they were thrown together and made to love each other. It was just so fast and so forced that I couldn't stomach it.
The idea for the story was good; I just wish it would have been executed better. It was heartwarming to see Serena's dad, Ian, play match-maker. He definitely made the book better by giving it some slight humor.
Ultimately, I think that I am going to have to put this series down for a bit. I really wanted to love it; heck, I would have been happy if I could even like it. The whole series has been extremely difficult for me to read. I have read five other books while trying to finish this one. Yep, the MacGregors are going on the back burner for me.

Unread shelf project 2019: book 13.
I enjoyed this, but not as much as I thought I would. Justin bothered me, how he seemed to push Serena into having sexytimes and although initially she would resist, she eventually caved and enjoyed herself. That just rubbed me the wrong way, but this was also written in 1992 (*gasp* the dark ages!

"The cards were stacked, though neither of them knew it. Serena MacGregor's father left nothing to chance when he sent Justin Blade -- part Comanche and all gambler -- on a Caribbean cruise. His daughter was evading her responsibility to produce grandchildren by working as a blackjack dealer on the CELEBRATION. Odds were they'd meet.
Serena's father had his hopes riding on what would happen when they did. Win, lose or draw, they were meant for each other, proving indisputably in this case that lucky in cards did not mean unlucky in love." (From Amazon)
I did not like this book (series) as much because it is more romance than story and the family saga didn't really interest me.
