4/4.5 stars! this book was so good. i’m constantly in awe of victoria schwab. i was a little worried going into this because i read this savage song over a year ago, and had to read a recap before i started this. so i was nervous to see if i’d be confused etc. but i wasn’t! it all came back to me. i remembered how cool this world is, and i loved it. i also love how dark this book is. i did love the characters, but i do think i wasn’t as attached to them since it had been so long since i read book 1. im so in love with victoria’s writing, it just always makes me feel things. the ending did get to me, but i thought it was great. this is my favorite of the two books.

Fucking hell, I wasn't prepared for this book.
I think I might be broken now.
What a masterpiece!

WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THAT ENDING????????

I am in shock right now, I don’t know how I feel about the ending of this book to be honest. Don’t get me wrong it was good, but I just felt like the ending was really rushed. Also my heart is broken right now…. Anyways I’m glad at least someone is still alive in the end. But wow, this book was crazy!! I’m really glad that there wasn’t a ton of romance in this particular series. Now of course I like having romance in books, but honestly this series just didn’t need it, so I’m glad that it didn’t have much in this story.

Overall I’d give this book 4 stars. I am a bit disappointed in this book, so that’s why it’s not 5 stars.

I’m SAD!!!!!!!!!

I feel such a deep attachment to August and I just want him to be happy. It’s one of those two-part series that makes you wish there was more but you understand why there isn’t. The openness almost makes it better, like it lives on forever. I like how this one really touched on the greyness that makes us HUMANS.

Content Warnings: Major Character Death, Blood, Violence

Admittedly, I liked TSS better, but I felt like this was a solid conclusion to the duology, heartbreaking though it was. It was (to me) less character focused than TSS and more action-packed, which makes sense, but as both a reader and a writer, I admittedly struggle through high-action sequences. What's charmed me from the beginning was the unique worldbuilding and characterizations, and I felt like those crossed over very nicely, and both of the big sad moments in the story were written absolutely beautifully. I cannot recommend this duology enough.
