While I would recommend Jarvis' "That Bird Has My Wings" first and foremost, this is a moving collection of stories about Jarvis' experiences on Death Row as a Buddhist and as a person trying to create positive change at San Quentin.
Particularly of interest to those who believe that change is possible.

Wow, man has been in prison since 1981.
It’s difficult to understand how one can make the financial of prison interactions sounds so funny and light in some cases and then so harsh and heartbreaking in others.
Jarvis knows how to write and he’s done an amazing job at portraying his stories in this book. I especially love “Recipe for Prison Pruno” (p63). It’s experimental and it’s done so well😙👌🏼.
I’ve underlined so many lines in this book. Some made me thing and reflect on these peoples situations, other on how at the end of the day everyone is the same and the rest were simply ridiculous.
Prisoners don’t give a damn about hoe they sound and it’s honestly so funny to me.

One of my favorite books I have ever read. So interesting to hear stories and how he changed his life around. I would love to sit and talk with him for hours.

It was so interesting to read from someone in prison and who is in death row. It's amazing how Jarvis changed his world just in his prison cell, by meditating and changing his thinking.
