I love this opposites-attract romance about two misfit neurodivergent academics (he is autistic, she has ADHD). I adore the main male lead in particular and his social cluelessness, hyper focus and info-dumping. Also, tall with a beard? Yes please! This was absolutely fabulous and I adored everything about it, right down to the unconventional happy ever after.

What did I love about this book?

Everything. I loved it all. I loved how the two met, I loved their arguing and I loved their banter.

Max is amazing and I love him. I love everything he says and does. I love that he’s direct and that he doesn’t understand social cues and I love that Holly just accepts him for all that he is.

I really loved Holly and her “I can be beautiful and smart” attitude. Because SO many people don’t realize that women can be feminine and intelligent. And they get upset when you are both, like you don’t have a right to be. She was such a wonderful protagonist.

I loved that the book focused on the two of them and the here and now. While they both had traumatic pasts, they weren’t caught up in them. They acted like adults - had adult problems and owned up to them.

I loooooooved that the miscommunication trope was NOT present here, besides the ASD social cues / miscommunication that comes with ASD. I liked that Holly was always upfront and honest. She didn’t take any shit from Max. It was perfection.

And what I loved most? The sex scenes were beautiful and endearing - with just a bit of lust - and they weren’t too long or weird. They were SO wonderfully written in a way that eased you into them. The timing was also great. Those scenes made sense - they ADDED to the plot instead of being erroneous.

Overall, my favorite adult romance to date. Damn, that was lovely.

I LOVE romances with MCs in academia. And so just by reading the blurb of this book got me very interested. I started to get my hopes up even higher when the diverse representation and the whole grumpy-sunshine dynamic started building up. Thankfully I kept them up because this did not disappoint at all!!!

More people need to know about how amazing this book is. The banter is on point, the chemistry is FIRE, and that epilogue????? MY HEART IS SO FULL.
