This book reminded me heavily of a modern, AU Count of Monte Cristo. It starts slow, but stick with it; the story is well worth it.

I really enjoyed the concept of this story and the lighthearted tone in contrast with the dark themes of murder and suicide.
However i do feel the book was trying too hard to be witty and funny, and the romance aspect felt forced. The writing also felt a bit pretentious. All in all, it was a good read but not my favorite.

Gave me Kingsman / dark academia vibes. Could see it as an anime. 

The author wrote “The Pina Colada Song” and some Broadway books.

This book was a lot of fun! The style is innovative and engaging, it eas easy to invest in the characters and their stories, and the end was very satisfying. The afterword, however, felt rather on the nose and undeserved.

Super interesting premise for a book! I enjoyed the interwoven plots and the excellent character development, but it was a bit dry during the first third which made it a little hard to get fully sucked into. After getting past the initial sections, the flow was much better and the plot lines were more clearly developed.
Overall very well done, a great morally grey read.
