My son and I just love these books! So much fun to read! He was so surprised when Baron Von Waffle appeared!

Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast race to be the first one to the last few drops of maple syrup. Adorable storyline about the leftovers in the refrigerator.

Cute and kinda clever, with a rollicking rhyme about the contest for the all-important breakfast food, maple syrup. Not outstanding, but good fun.

My storytime kids asked the questions this book wants you to ask

"What is that food?"
"What does that word mean?"

My storytime kids ALSO got the meaning of the book

"They aren't nice to each other."

And of course we obsessed over pancakes and French toast and waffles.

Clever book that was probably much more difficult to write than the ease it projects. Nice little twist ending, and great rhymes throughout. Reading this book could improve readers' vocabulary.

"Squishy" and "scrumptious" are just two of the words to describe the story and illustrations in Josh Funk's, 'Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast', a tale of team effort even when the sugary sweet reward tantalizes all of the individual competitors.

The faces on all of the foods, the drawings of the foods themselves (the work of Brendan Kearney), make up for the cheesier portions of the rhyming dialogue...sorry cheese. It might flow and entertain some audiences, but others might find it to be too much of an attempt.

The book's potential for the Story Time or Elementary School Classroom lesson plan is immense. The discussion points, crafts, and even the recipes can open the topic of 'collaboration' to younger minds and encourage an early strive towards working together for the common good.

One knows this book will make its way around library patrons across the globe, the way Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast journeyed through the shelves of the refrigerator.

This was fine but not a book I see becoming an all time favorite.

Such a delicious read, plus I love the surprise fold-out ending. This would make a great readaloud, with lots of potential discussion with young readers about the fun art details, food and friendship.

That fridge is just FULL of food. And none of it is covered? Bad food hygiene, fridge-owner.

Also don't fight with your friends over maple syrup. Your nemesis will get it.

Rhyming books can be tough, you have to be very clever with your rhymes to sound authentic. Josh Funk nails it with his debut picture book. Clever, funny and with a fun little twist, this book will delight readers!
