Cute
Cute story. 3.5 rounding up. Pretty typical romance story. Fall in love, misunderstanding or secret that splits them up, make up at the end.

I always love Helena Hunting's books and this one was good, but not my favorite. It tackled some heavy issues which was perfectly fine but usually the author balances that out with a healthy dose of humor. The humor was there but it just wasn't as pronounced and ultimately left me wanting a little more. But I did love the chemistry between the main characters and the relationship with Emme, the sister, was so sweet from both Dax and Kailyn. I definitely liked this book and it was a solid read.

I absolutely loved everything about this story! It was so much more than I ever expected, being the perfect blend of heartbreak, light comedy, and steam. It starts out with a hilarious and awkward meet cute between Kailyn and Dax on the first day of law school and doesn't stop at one! They are attracted to each other but never act on it, but instead make each other work harder and do better. But a misunderstanding makes them part ways confused and resentful. Five years later they meet again when Dax and his parents seek her out to write a trust for his little sister. Later, when tragedy strikes, Dax is left heartbroken and caring for his young teen sister. Kailyn gets dragged into their crisis with one opinion only to find that Dax and his adorable sister help her just as much. I loved this story so much, it is everything I crave and so much more. Narrators, Holly Warren, and Teddy Hamilton were amazing as they brought this wonderful story to life. They nailed all the characters perfectly, making me feel all the complex emotions they went through, and made me laugh out loud, cry, and totally swoon. This was a fun, emotional and steamy romance that captured my heart.

Predictable and unbelievable dense characters. This story had a lot of promise but fell flat for me.

I loved this book more than I expected!
First off, I love a romance that has more to it than just the actual romance. Having the plot of Dax dealing with the death of his parents and the care of his younger sister, with Kailyn the conservator, was a great thread throughout the book that I enjoyed following to the end.
This is the first book I’ve read by Helena Hunting and I can’t wait to read more. Everything about it worked for me. Kailyn was such an awesome and headstrong character who I loved straight away.
Meet Cute was definitely a fun read, though it had it’s hard-hitting moments, and Kailyn and Dax's relationship felt genuine as it hit its peaks and valleys.
Can't wait to read more books by Helena Hunting!

I really loved how the author manages to explore the grief and messiness that comes with losing a parent, while still managing to write a cute, fluffy, funny story. In fact, I think that is my favorite thing about this story: it doesn’t shy away from the complex feelings that grief entails. It was a lot more poignant than I expected it to be.
I appreciate the dynamics between Daxton and Emme, (I’m a sucker for sibling stories) and Emme and Kailyn. (Also, I am enjoying that Kailyn shares my daughters name, albeit with different spelling.) Kailyn was superb as a “take no shit” lawyer and I relished in her owning the room during different meetings.
I thoroughly enjoyed this tale, and look forward to more from this author.
