Plane crashes, Russian spies, ex military, heroes, and a love story. What more could you ask for? Jack and Hannah have a past. Neither one of them thought that they would see each other again, and believing that the future was dead. After Jack suffers the loss of his teenage love you can feel that in his mind his chance for happiness is gone. Hannah, having to grow up in such a rigid and difficult childhood that is overwhelmed by loss, has hardened her to everything around her, including a past connection with Jack. When these two encounter each other again , it’s in an unexpected and disastrous way. They have so many obstacles and trust issues to overcome that you have to wonder if there’s any hope at all. Seeing how much Jack has grown from Moments That Define Us, brings a new and refreshing light. Having all of the Gray Ghost guys back in the mix makes this book even more enjoyable. I appreciated the fact that this books time period was during the same time as Chris’s story. As all books that Amy McKinley writes in the series, this story had lots of romance, action, deception, and intrigue. The secret that Hannah discovers after so many years filled me with both anger and sadness. My heart ached for all the loss she had already endured, and then her realizing even more loss in a different way. This book had me from page one to the end and I can’t wait to see what the Gray Ghost guys encounter next.

Beneath the Surface, is book 3 in A Gray Ghost Novel by Amy McKinley, and it is just as good as the first 2 in the series. It has a perfect balance of romance, and suspense, with a mixture of mystery. I was a little confused at first, since I read book 2 months ago, but once I caught on to where this story picks up on the story line, I didn't want to put it down. It takes place along the same timeline as Eye of the Storm, but that didn't dawn on me until a good way into the story. The characters are wonderful, and I love that it has a strong lead female, and not someone to be swept off her feet. Hannah is tough and intense and I loved reading/watching the relationship between her and Jack. They both have quite the struggle between work and pleasure. I highly recommend this book, but you must read the others in the series first to understand what is going on.

Beneath the Surface by Amy McKinley is the third book in the Gray Ghost series. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the other books in the series. This story follows the characters Hannah Miller and Jack Davis. This story is action packed with mystery and suspense. I really enjoyed reading it and was disappointed when I got to the end. The characters are interesting and the women are strong. I liked the story with romance and suspense thrown in. I really look forward to reading more from Amy McKinley in the future.

Beneath The Surface (A Gray Ghost Novel) By Amy McKinley
4 Stars!!!!

This is the third book in this series and I wasn't disappointed. I really find the author's writing style to be captivating and gripping. I really enjoyed the way that the author weaves the romance into the intrigue and drama throughout the book. I was hooked from page one and couldn't put the book down.

I found myself really drawn to Hannah's character. The drama that plays out in her past and the way it helps to mold the person she becomes. I really found myself routing for her and was very happy to see that Jack came into her life. I really found myself eager to see what would happen next and really enjoyed the intrigue and spy stuff that plays out in this book. I really look forward to reading more from this author and hopefully this series.

Beneath the Surface (Gray Ghost #3)
By Amy McKinley

After reading and loving the first two books in this series I was really excited to see where the author would go with the third book. It was as I expected just as action packed, just as exciting and just as great to read as the first two. The mystery and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through and the storyline kept me gripped from beginning to end. I really liked Hannah and Jack and their story was one that had me intrigued. I loved trying to guess what was going to happen. I instantly felt a connection with Hannah, she was a great independent person who has dealt with some things in her past – but I feel that these things have helped her become the woman she is today. I was really rooting for her and Jack from the very start!
Beneath the Surface was a fantastic read with some great moments that I definitely didn’t expect! I 100% recommend it and the rest of the books in the series! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future!

I have to admit when I started reading the Gray Ghost Novel set, I knew I was going to just love it. Amy McKinley has an amazing gift to write mystery, suspense, and romance all roll up into one. When I am reading her story, I do not feel like the focus is romance. In this story we learn about Hannah and Jack. These characters feel like good friends. Hannah is a strong character, but she has a past that she has kept secret. Jack is a member of the Gray Ghost team which is a Navy Seal team. Hannah is traveling with a secret weapon that was hijacked and Jack was deployed to recover the weapon. There is a mystery involving this weapon. Will Jack be able to complete his mission or will he have heartache over the truth of what is going on? Will Hannah open up to Jack and tell him the secrets of her past? This is one story you will have to read to find out what is going to happen to Jack, Hannah, and the secret weapon.

I highly suggest reading the entire series to help you get the feeling of this series but not necessary. We get to read about Hannah and Jack's story. Their story is one of learning to trust and second chances. They are strong and independent. What will happen when Hannah is accused of being a traitor and will Jack be willing to risk it all to save her? This is where the action kicks in, choices are made which made it hard to put this book down at this point. I highly recommend this book.

This is the third book in the series and the third book I have read by McKinley. What a great continuation for this series! So many questions answered from book 2 but even more to make us wonder what will happen to this crew next!

McKinley has written another story about the guys and girls that make up the Gray Ghost group. This story is a great adventure of who to trust, who to believe and how to stay alive. Hannah is a tough woman. She knows what she is doing and how to get the job done. But McKinley helps us to believe that Hannah may not be the good guy. This story is well worth the read but you really should start with book one so that you know the other characters stories.

“We all have our own secrets to bear, our demons in the past”……

Beneath the Surface is the third book in the Gray Ghosts series by Amy McKinley. It is a fantastic, adrenaline fueled, and action packed romantic suspense. It has a second-chances aspect to the story- with drama, violence, bloody battle scenes, secrets, lies, promises, twists, special forces, espionage, Guerrilla’s, intrigue, danger, gripping situations, and plenty of emotion. The characters are superb, and OMG!- Ms. McKinley certainly puts them through the wringer. I was on tenterhook’s, holding my breath, catapulted from one intense moment right into the next- all the while trying to figure out what would happen next. But, as expected, Ms. McKinley kept me guessing the whole way through.
The story is set against the backdrop of Washington DC, and the deadly environment of the Colombian jungle. The story swallowed me up (in a great way), as I became totally immersed in all the espionage, action, thrills and danger. There was nowhere to turn, the story has me firmly in its grip, and I loved it. I adored “Eye of the Storm” (Book #2) and it was easily my favourite of the series, until this book came along- and now I am having a hard time choosing which one I love more. I guess because this story is set in the same time frame, and the storyline runs parallel with Book #2 (Chris and Mari’s story) is why I love it so much. It has the same feel and intensity, but with its own powerful identity. This could be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the rest of the series to get all the backstories, character information, and other pertinent details. As well as the other books being fantastic stories in their own rights! You can’t go wrong with Ms. McKinley at the wheel!
Can’t wait to see what she does next!!!!

Thank you, Ms. McKinley!
