I don't like the setting as much. S & C continue to be not very interesting.

it was fun! its all very short and a little too focused on the sex and not enough tender moments for my taste but the plot worked out well and i binged this on my last day of vacation. Off to read the last book on my flight back lol

I sat down last night and was like 'maybe I'll start reading the sequel' and then didn't get up until I was done. All my thoughts about the first hold true here-- love the mystery and magic. I also really enjoyed how much of a besotted idiot Crane was in this book.

Still fun and the exciting little magical investigation story ads lots of spice to the romance.

Loved the cast of secondary characters, starting with Lord Crane's valet/henchman Merrick and Esther, Stephen's partner in magical crime investigation.

On to book 3 now.

God, this series is so good and KJ Charles such a masterful storyteller, you could die. DIE! I'm dead. Shit.

Magic and plot was more interesting than the last book in the series, but the romance felt lacking. My copy had pages that would fall out if I so much as breathed on them and it pissed me off enough I feel a need to mention it here if not elsewhere.

I can only curse at not discovering K.J Charles earlier and enjoying this book early. And curse some more for finishing this quickly.

As excellent at the first book.I loved the development of the relationship between Crane and Stephen. It is very satisfying. The strain of the relationship on Stephen is well handled and convincing. The mystery here is interesting, but not quite as riveting for me as the story in the first book. Still, very entertaining. There were a couple of laugh out loud moments which I loved.

Lovely to discover A Case of Spirits tucked at the end of the audiobook as well!
