This was such a fun read. I just heard a film noir monologue in my head as I read the narration…but with cat detectives.

nah. this book has some disgusting stereotypes. jamaicans can’t speak fluent english. asians eat cats. g*psies are all violent. then you have all the fat shaming. nope.

give it a pass.

also doesn’t help that the author wrote the most bizarre scenes. and the ending seemed to be recycled, constantly someones gets attacked, again and again. nope. not good.

made it a little over half way, but this book turned out to be racist, misogynistic and somewhat antisemitic. Do not recommend

Review - This was a great book to read during lockdown, it was lovely and light and funny. There were some great plays on words with things related to cats. The characters were all likeable and the book made me giggle throughout. If you're looking for something serious, even cosy crime that's a bit more serious then this isn't for you, but if you want something really light and funny to get you through a difficult patch then this is the book for you!

I liked it, but it is definitely more of a "casual rainy/beach day" style read. It was amusing to imagine a society where cats are existing in place of humans. I got through it quickly and I liked the characters. Would probably read more in the series. I did not like the final few chapters, personally. Too much happening too fast for a slow paced book of 300 pages.

This was really hard to continue reading - the concept(cat detectives) was lovely but most of the characters were boring. I did like Tilly (the main detective's assistant) but that's it. I would have preferred it if the book focused on the bakers who the detectives lived with, rather than the old cat home mystery. The ending was a little interesting but not really worth the effort it takes to get there

If you need a bubblebath for your brain, go and read this right meow. It's very cute, a little slow. Oddly comforting. I'll take a book on a world run by cats anytime.
