Started this book and then realized that it was in the middle of the series so I went back to read the first book in the series. While the main characters are charming, not really invested in the series. This book in particular did not do much for me. I enjoyed reading it, it was an easy read and you did want to know how it came about but the ending seemed a little preposterous and far-fetched.

The story dragged, the pacing was slow, Amory was less likeable. This one was just not as engaging as the previous instalments.

Always enjoy an outing with Amory and Milo! The one thing I would have loved is a bit more of the information revealed before the final denouement ... I was not entirely surprised, but felt there were a couple of logical leaps our intrepid heroine made that we, the readers, couldn’t possibly have known.
Also, I listened to the audiobook, first time with this reader, and felt she did a fine job with the voices.

I’m impressed that this author managed to write this to where the ultimate reveal could still feel believable
The only foreshadowing of the villain is in three seemingly irrelevant consecutive paragraphs in the first 120 pages of the book, but they were enough to make me pause and re-examine someone’s character to the point that it made the end feel earned. Anyway, I love this series and it’s a great binge read.
