When Jess’s best friend Angie gets a college-age girlfriend, she is plunged into a world of jealousy she didn’t anticipate. When a party leads to a murder investigation, she finds herself plunged into an entirely different world. The characters were well developed throughout, and anyone who loved it loves drawing and writing will likely enjoy Jess as a character. Overall, I felt like this book suddenly changed directions from being a story about jealousy, toxic relationships, and identity to being a murder mystery and I didn’t quite love the change. It was a fun read, but I wish it had been either/or, not both.

The book was good, but not great.
What I liked:
- Queer POC main character and other queer characters
- Comic book storyline was unique and cool
- The police transcripts were also interesting, gave the story more flavor

What I didn’t like:
- Dynamic between Angie and Jess was off for me
- The “mystery” wasn’t juicy enough, the cover fooled me, I thought this would be more dark and twisty but the story was flat IMO
- That end plot twist made zero sense
