Waits is a genius, and an amazing interview subject. However, this does get a little repetitive (I blame the interviewers). It's probably best enjoyed by a fan.

This is another one of my favorite biographies. Tom Waits was always someone I half-enjoyed while my dad had him playing in the car, but this book made me a devoted convert. It's so fun getting to see Waits develop his persona over the span of his career, going from a crusty, unwashed, bourbon-soaked tramp of a nighthawk to a folklorish and biblically devilish fever dream weaver. It also inspired me to always be open to experimenting in my creative endeavors. I highly recommend.

Apparently, I don't like Tom Waits enough. The early interviews to me oscillated between boring to making TW sound like an annoying poseur.
