2.75. The only reason this isn't a full 2 was the romantic unfolding between Liz and Darcy, which I didn't buy into until the last 100 or so pages of the book. Otherwise, the characters are even more annoying and self centered than in the original novel.

So fun. I cannot resist a Pride and Prejudice retelling, and this one is superb. Sittenfeld updates the story for the modern era and adds elements of the absurd to make it truly entertaining. If you are a Jane Austen fan then you know how this one ends, but it doesn't matter: she makes it worth the ride.

a keenly written modernPride & Prejudice, with a dash of The Bachelor. there are plenty of moments that are cringe or irritating, but somehow in a mostly satisfying way - so is the source! my main issue is the super short chapters (HUGE pet peeve, feels lazy!) but overall it honors the original with fresh/ surprising additions.

This was delightful! I can't bear most "updated" retellings of Jane Austen's works, but this is witty and fun, and very well written. I have already recommended it to my daughter, and recommend it here to anyone who loves P&P and is open to the idea of a modern re-telling.

As funny, clever and charming as you would expect. The only bad thing about a new Curtis Sittenfeld book is having to wait 3 years for the next one!
