I wasn’t wild about the characters in this book, I found them a little one-dimensional. I did enjoy the mystery however, and I didn’t have as easy of a time guessing the twists as I have with many other mystery-thrillers I’ve read which is a definite bonus!

Fun and quick read. Interesting small town with a powerful family. Secrets, rental houses, flash drives and blackouts.

This was one good, captivating book. The timelines change when you least desire it, but they offer some insight into what happened and why people are where they are.

Some things are a bit predictable, some parts are a bit dragged, some aspects are a bit unrealistic, but the book has a good ending and a few good twists.

Second Megan Miranda I've read. Second time I've been thankful I got it for free from a little free library (and understood why it was donated in the first place). There was nothing particularly wrong with this one, it just was so blah. Nothing new or even really exciting. MM really knows how to write a small town, summertime sadness atmosphere though, I'll give her that. I will continue to pick her stuff up (especially if free) but I likely won't go out of my way to read it.

I've read a few books by this author now, and while this wasn't the worst book I've ever read, it wasn't necessary the best either. The language felt so... dramatic and at times unrealistically descriptive that I skimmed a lot. The "twist" was something I figured out early on, so nothing was too surprising. I do feel like the epilogue could have been a bit longer, as things were wrapped up almost too quickly with no real information, given that a lot had happened
