Four siblings spend their evenings wishing upon a star. Each wish returns just a portion of what they wished for. Fractions and patterns play a part in this story as the four children try to figure out how to combine their wishes to get a whole pet.

I feel extremely unqualified to review children's literature. It's not at my reading level (obviously). I don't have children. I have no training in teaching children to which this would be an appropriate level. That being said, I have to ask. Are all children's books this transparently didactic? I think there are better ways to teach children about fractions than to create a fairly meaningless story to wrap around a fraction lesson.
