The Gone World is an excellent mixture of sci fi, mystery, and cosmic mindfuck.

I was disappointed in the epilogue, but really impressed by the expansion of the story into a much wider breadth than just straightforward time travel.

True Detective meets Inception was how the book was pitched to me, and that was pretty correct. The pacing and writing quality was well done throughout. However, I found the ending to be rushed and extremely underwhelming. I believe I understand what the author was trying to convey in the epilogue, but it left a poor taste in my mouth after reading. I would still recommend the overall story due to the premise and imagery alone, but be prepared deal with a very divisive ending.

I couldn’t connect with the main character at all for some reason.

Probably the most original take on time travel I’ve read. It was a little hard to follow at points and had a lot of graphic violence but the pace never slowed down and I finished this in one sitting.

This book combines two of my great loves: crime procedurals and time travel. Tense, dark, and gory - not a good thing to read to wind down for bed! Good timing for  Halloween though. There were times where my enjoyment wavered, questioning if the author was going anywhere with a particular idea or just going for shock value, but my faith paid off the end!
