It was good, but just nowere nearly emotional enough for me. There was your usual love story but somehow it just didn't get me that interested. Overall it was nice to know the history of the family. If you have read "We were liars" you should read this too.

man i do not like lockhart’s writing style, like at all. it’s too vague and pretentious and yes it suits the point of view she’s writing from but it is impossible to read without cringing. this book works even worse as a prequel because it’s just… not as good as the first book - and that book was mediocre too! another attempt at a plot twist that barely constitutes as a plot twist and the author over-utilized the ghost plot device that was introduced in the last book. nevertheless, this book depicted sibling relationships quite well and hit home a couple times as well. every chapter was a bit of a gamble, would it provide a moment of reflection for myself or would it make me want to close the book and perhaps, burn it?
