The main plot I would say is 4 star. It is good and has the twists throughout. The Native American culture and politics interwoven in this story is what takes it to the next level. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Trigger warnings:
Violence, rape, sexual assault with minors, discrimination, heavy drug use, death, kidnapping

This book is a 5/5 for me because I normally dont read thrillers, and despite going into this story blind, I didnt stop when I found out it wasn’t fantasy like I thought. The story was engaging and I love Daunis. Its refreshing reading a story with an inside perspective and from someone clearly so in love with and proud of her people. It felt modern and totally real and had a lot of hope and love to offset the bad. I am not into thrillers so I wont read it again but I’m glad I read it. If you like mysteries and awesome female leads, give it a go!

Words can’t describe how much I loved this book. It was so encompassing and engaging. I listened to this on audible and felt it hard to do other things while listening because of how engrossed I was in the story.

The words- beautiful. The narrator- perfectly executed. The story- stunning. Everyone should read this book.

5/5 stars.

Mystery, characters, strong sense of place and culture, romance- this kitchen sink of a nook pulls off EVERYTHING. Stunning.

The first time I read this I read it in one sitting in the middle of the night and I loved it. On reread I had a lot more time to get annoyed by the romance, and I did enjoy it significantly less. It's still a very good book I just probably didn't need to reread it, and I wouldn't have if I didn't have a bookclub for it.

Didn’t realize this was YA when I started, but once I figured that out I enjoyed for what it was
