Three stars because it was free - had I paid it would be two.

Plot kept me engaged, characters were super thin but the twists were good and I didn’t see them coming. Not a masterpiece, but not the worst thing I’ve ever read. Perfect for those who enjoy crime thrillers and a quick read, this ticks both boxes.

Overall a good psychological read. Very excited to read book 2. I really enjoyed the writng and the characters. Didn't like that as smart and perceptive as Jessie is, she never saw her husband gaslighting her the entire book.

This was... not great. For being a super smart criminal profiler, the main character is pretty stupid. And the "secret club" was a weird distraction but ultimately also stupid. There was a part I thought I had figured out, but then the reality ended up being... even stupider?
SpoilerI thought everyone in the club was set up in some way, like with the dead hostess, and that blackmailed them into keeping the club's secrets, which I thought might explain why all the wives went along with the club thing -- but no, it was just one bad dude and the women were just vapid.

It kept me reasonably interested so it gets 2 stars instead of 1, but in the end it was full of plot holes and generally eyeroll-inducing.

The narrator was also not great. She whispered the entire book, and her sentences had a noticable lift at the end? making them sound like questions?

Den handlade i botten inte om vad jag trodde, men inte på ett plottwisty way. Bra, saker händer, mysterier behöver undersökas, nothing breathtaking
