hm. i'm unsure how to rate this. i feel like the author knew a lot about lesbian pulp fiction from this era from the captions on some covers and descriptions that were part of each section of the book, but i did feel a bit disappointed that there wasn't more detail. like on one page, the caption talked about the chair in the cover of a novel; it would've been nice to have a glossary or something that provided more information about that type of chair, era of interior design, etc. made me feel like i had to do more googling aside from the book to learn more (which i wasn't rly in the mood to do while reading just bc i do not feel like it this week lmao). and i wanted to see more of the author's analysis. aside from that, some captions were just sort of random i guess lol. i just know v basic stuff about 50s-90s lesbian pulp fiction so i would've been really excited to read more! this was still informative though.

Good commentary, excellent selection, and awesome foreword! I liked the little blurbs under each cover. Some of the variations of the same story (aka: the original edition + republications' covers) were not as interesting since they were similar, but was fun overall.
