As a fan of the miniseries based off this book, I was really excited to read this. It definitely lived up to my expectations. It was a detailed yet personal account of an extraordinary group of men who are considered heroes, and rightly so. Though the military hierarchy can be confusing and a bit hard to follow, the book was easy to read. It was a fabulous book and I highly recommend it.

Band of Brothers serves to be, in my opinion, one of the most raw and heartwarming retelling of events. The descriptions of each man, and the unimaginable suffering they endured is shown so well in this book. The comradeship and love between the men is something that I don’t think will ever be repeated in history.
The direct quotes from both Webster and Winters, along with other Easy Company men, are so raw and from the heart.
Having the book end with the quote, “…but i served in a company of heroes.” genuinely gave me chills.
Stephen Ambrose is an amazing historian, this book alone proves that.

Band of Brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose

I'd never read a non-fiction book before, apart from autobiographies, so I was a bit reluctant to pick this up. However, I'd seen the series and wanted to know as much as possible about the men of E Company. Ambrose is brilliant at bringing the places and battles to life and describing the battles involved. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because I sometimes struggled with remembering who was who, the injuries they had suffered and what they had done. After watching the series, I could easily put a name to a face which definately helped. I'll even admit that at the end I cried. This is a phenomenal book and series which everyone should read and watch.
