"Deville's Greatest Hits" is a series written by none other than my favourite aunt! I have to say, it feels really surreal to be name-checked in the mentions at the beginning, and to recognize family anecdotes in the book's plot; I call those "Easter eggs"!

As for my opinion of this book, the plot alone is just so zany and creative: Hellie Harte, who was a long-time superfan of the band, Deville, gets fired on the first day of her call center job, and has an ungraceful exit, falling flat on her face...only to fall at the feet of Deville's broody bassist, and her celeb crush, Graham Dewitt! (Graham is the part-owner of the company, which explains his presence). Graham is a widower and single father, whose bandmates were concerned for his wellbeing, so to save some face and compensate for Hellie's job loss, Graham gives this superfan a lucrative offer to pose as his bae-for-pay, until he and his children travel to visit his parents. Oh and one more detail, Hellie's entire apartment complex burned down at the same time, so she must be a fake live-in gf! This story focuses on how Hellie navigates being integrated into band life, family life, and genuine love-life.

I thought "Add Latte and Stir" was an incredibly sweet and charming read, without being overly saccharine. I love how The Baby, aka Banner, aka Banjo..etc had such a large presence in this story without being able to speak. It was really wholesome to see how Bowie and Banner took to Hellie, and she became a mother figure in their lives. The feelings of important milestones in a new relationship, like meeting the friends and parents were incredibly relatable. I also loved the clever lines and humour, and how Hellie was a chatty and personable narrator, sometimes breaking the fourth wall to the readers. I would have liked to see more about Becca Zelman and Deacon the Freak, and what led them to be the villains of the story, other than that they are freaks. Overall, this was an entertaining and great character-driven romance!
