What a fun quick holiday read.

Dani is a local bakery owner who is trying to set up her towns Christmas celebration. But the fire chief Declan is there to shoot down every idea.

So when Dani decides to “claim her coal” and have a one night Christmas fling. So doesn’t except it to be Declan who meets her in the storage room.

This is a cute hallmark like book but we get the spice!! It’s a quick read so we all the Christmas fluff in a quick read without it being too plotty. I loved it! I love grumpy Declan.

cute holiday novella!

I really enjoyed this novella! Declan was such a grump and I absolutely loved Dani. She knew what she wanted and I loved that she pushed Declan to admit what he wanted too. If you’re in the mood for a steamy holiday novella, pick this one up!

This is the first book I've ready by Amy Alves, but it won't be my last! This was such a cute, quick read!

Dani is relatively new to town, having opened up a bakery. Declan was the recently appointed fire chief, brought in to help clean up the reputation that the last chief left behind. From the start, there had been some flirty banter between Declan and Dani, but Declan doesn't have time to entertain any relationship. Dani, however, is determined to #claimyourcoal.

I absolutely fell in love with Declan, and loved how Dani worked so hard to break his always-follow-the-rules attitude! I'm looking forward to more!

I read Falling for the Jerk first and loved it and when I found out there was a story about Dani and Declan, I knew I had to read it.

Declan is the grinch fire chief of the town and Dani is the owner of the local town bakery. She is determined to have a Christmas to remember and "claim her coal" in the process...i.e. make Santa's naughty list. She has lusted after Declan, but he turned her down months ago, so she will find someone new. A quick, dark hook-up at a Christmas turns out to be Declan. Now, the woman who drives him crazy is the woman he can't stop thinking about.

I really enjoyed this short, spicy novella. I only wish it was longer.

Get ready for some smokey Holiday goodness! Dani is a super fun character who knows what she wants and makes it happen. I love the way she was flirty and pushing boundaries to get Declan to give in to her. Dani was attracted to Declan and was hoping for at least a good time with him. Declan did reciprocate Dani’s feelings but he was a rule follower and did not want to let anything happen. Enjoy the ride while they discover each other, and hide their relationship from the rest of the crazy town.

I received this eARC in exchange for an honest review all thoughts and opinions are my own.

✅Firechief
✅Small town romance
✅Age Gap

Dani’s a baker in her small town and this Christmas she’s claiming her coal. She’ll be solving her dry spell problems and taking matters into her own hands—not literally, because she already accomplish that well enough on her own however she’s very ready for a partner. Her top three fantasies include hooking up with someone in a public place, getting tied up—tying him up too—and spanking. She been with mostly nice, submissive men who are uncomfortable getting a little rough in the bedroom, so she need a naughty man capable of delivering these desires with no hesitation or shame. She’s got her sights set on one man Declan the fire chief who keeps her at arms length… Can a little Christmas Magic help Dani claim her coal?

***********Possible spoilers **************

Parts that made me laugh:

“Jack Frost might be nipping at my lady bits, but I don’t care”

“If you so much as glance at her ass, I’ll flick your eyeballs.”

Parts that made me think :

“My tummy pooch thrives despite regular workouts and my chest perpetually tests the confines of my bras. But my arms are toned and my thighs are thick in all the best ways. Learning to love my body during an excruciatingly long dry spell has been rough, and if a little boob over spillage and a soft tummy turn a man off, he’s not a man worth undressing for”

Perfect holiday Grumpy Shine

Yes, yes, yes!!! When I think of a holiday story, this is precisely what I want to read. Falling for the Grinch is funny, has sexy banter, and, OMG, Dani, and Declan will burn down the damn bakery.

Give me Chief Grinch any day. This book is the perfect grumpy shine for the holiday season.
I love that Dani chipped and chipped away Declan's coal exterior.

Dani, the female lead, has had a crush on Declan, the male lead, for a long while, but he publicly rejected her because he’s trying to improve his fire department’s reputation. But Dani is determined to have an adventure and she’ll find someone else to help if she needs to. Vexed by that idea, Declan offers to assist as long as no one knows about it…

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a steamy sweet Christmas romance. I enjoyed Dani’s initiative and her willingness to choose someone else when Declan initially refused. I enjoyed Declan’s dawning awareness of who and what he wanted and the grovel he was willing to make. I enjoyed their intimate scenes and adventurousness, as well as the relationship and individual growth. I also enjoyed the secondary character integration and the world building and am looking forward to the next one.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
