So I did it. I finally started to read the Harry Potter series.

I wanted to get through the movies before moving on to the books, and I am glad I did. It turns out there are allusions to things in the first book that aren't mentioned or alluded to until past the first movie in the series. That would have driven me nuts.

I want to say this: I am impressed with people who are TRUE Harry Potter fans for being relatively mum about the movies & books. Because these books have been ferociously read (I know several people who stood in lines and then read the books within the first day or two when they came out, even fore-going showers) I know that people are truly fanatical about this series. What's awesome is that people don't really talk about the plot in larger circles, which allows for spoilers to be avoided... I will honor that in my review.

Great book, reads fast, watch the movies first if you haven't already and/or are interested in both. I usually read the books first, but in this instance I am glad I saw the movies first.

I thought the book was very well written and a solid story line. My biggest issues with the story is that it is very predictable and I don't feel as if the story is very original at all. I also don't think that it is holding up as an all time classic. Not in the category of Narnia or Lord of The Rings at least.

I loved revisiting this. I.K. Rowling’s writing is so masterful and simple. Her ability to work build is second to none and the Wizarding world is a ridiculous amount of fun. A must for everyone!
