I hate to be mean but this was the worst book I've ever read. The plot was dumb, the characters were dull and unlikeable, and the narrator often went off on a tangent that was difficult to understand. This was not the typical chick-lit that I was expecting and I don't mean that in a good way. I give it an F.

One of the most honest and heart shattering books about romance I've ever read. My only wish is that I'd had these pages to read while I was in the throes of my own heartbreak.

Not my favorite Fisher book but I do enjoy her writing. Took me so long to finish because I would pick it up read a few pages and become disinterested in the characters and set it back down. I sort of liked Dinah but did not really care for the other characters.

Carrie Fisher's sharp wit never ceases to amuse, and there are so many quotable lines in here I could make a mural out of them.

"What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Wasn't it Nietzsche who said that? Nietzsche, who hated women and died of syphilis? What didn't kill men, made them stronger. What didn't kill women, made them breakfast."

The audiobook narration, by Carrie Fisher herself, is a must for this book. Carrie was at her fiery prime at the time of recording, and this shouldn't be experienced any other way.

Sadly, the story didn't really seem to go anywhere and ended rather abruptly, which makes it just "okay" for me. It's good for a quick summer read when you're looking for a good laugh, but there isn't much to chew on beyond that.

While I love Carrie Fisher, I did not love this book. Like not at all. I had to force myself to finish it.

Dinah Kaufman is a mess - at least in the romance department. She has a great job, has friends, but always falls for the wrong man. In Surrender the Pink, Dinah is super focused on one man - the man she thinks got away. This relationship was extremely toxic to the point that Dinah followed him to the Hamptons to spy on him with his new girlfriend. Talk about cringe. Needless to say, I did not like Dinah.

I also wasn't a fan of the writing style. To me, it seemed all over and jumbled. There were long periods of time where nothing happened then everything would be piled into one chapter only to go back to nothing. There was slut shamming, cheating, humor that really missed it's mark. Maybe it's because I read this book way past it's release date, but I really could not get into it.

I still want to read her autobiography, but I think I will steer clear of her fiction for now.
