Good mystery with a ghostly presence and all that but it’s very difficult to connect with the characters. As such, I was not sold on the romance aspect either. I thought the narrator did a great job switching voices to keep you fully engaged in the story but I was so annoyed by the macho tones he opted for when it came to the main male character. I’m thinking of skipping to the newer installments.

Thanks Netgalley for a great book to read and review

Wow what a ghost story! Loved it. The small town of Lily was once a silver mining town during the years of the big gold rush. An unsolved missing person mystery is one of the big highlights of the old theater in Lily, Arizona called the Gilded Lily. A skull is found and FBI members of the team Krewe are sent in. Jane and Sloan have an instant chemistry which fuels the book, not to mention the rich history of the town, and the town folk. I thought the book had a great story, great characters and just enough suspense to keep you guessing until the end. Four huge stars of entertainment!

Great story for the series. The start of the third Krewe is here. Very entertaining and easy to read story line.

I wasn’t crazy about this one at first: lots of names and history being thrown out. BUT it really grew on me. Sloan was the perfect ultra manly man old west sheriff and Luke Daniels did a great job with him. I had absolutely NO idea what was going on right up until the end, and it was genuinely spooky and twisty. A great addition to the series!

I enjoy the Krewe of Hunters novels, though they require me to take my analysis hat off. This one was a fun story set in a ghost town struggling to survive in modern times, so there was plenty of Old West flair. There's a skull found deep in the backstage depths of an old-time theater, so we get to see Jane and her artistic talents on display. The author cares about her characters enough to make sure that we know they really do have the skills they talk about. It was nice to see a softer side of the Krewe with Jane. Of course there is some conflict between the main characters (this wouldn't be a Harlequin mystery without it) and of course they fall wildly in love and they solve the crime(s) together. I didn't really expect the bad guy here, so the ending was a little flat for me. The climactic action comes in one big bunch at the end, but the rest of the story is a good paranormal mystery, with Jane receiving help from the town's resident ghosts (yep, it really is a ghost town!). The Krewe novels don't need to be read in order, so if you're in the mood for a little romantic ghost-story murder mystery, pick this up.

Received as a digital ARC via Netgalley and the publisher.

4 stars despite the flaws, because the setting is so much fun. Review to come.

I missed the rest of Jane's crew in this one. While I enjoyed it, I much prefer the whole crew investigating.

Sloan & Jane are a good match though, and the story was very engaging. I really wasn't sure who the whodunnit was until the actual reveal, which was kind of nice. I usually have that figured out early on.

I really enjoy this series. Looking forward to reading the next one.

4! Okay...Just when I thought I was incorrect in the assumption, a third Krewe could exist!!! Seriously? Why? I realize these are acts of fiction BUT I like to have a bit of reality thrown in...3 Krewes of 6...overkill much? YET...I am absolutely loving these stories otherwise! I love the past meeting up with the present in the form of murder and mayhem...Who Doesn't?
