I was so confused by this book. Truly. This is my first Nicholas Sparks's book, and I know he's a well-known author, I was taken aback by Dreamland. Still, this doesn't mean I won't be reading other books from him because I will, but in the case of Dreamland, it wasn't it for me. I wanted to DNF it but towards the end, I'd say around 80% it got quite good, with a sudden peak in the story and a big revelation, and that is where my 2 stars are going towards.
I couldn't wrap my head around the idea of this fling between Colby and Morgan as true love, and all the "I love you's" exchanged. In my opinion, I feel there needs to be more backstory or rather a longer connection between both of them, given that they are already polar opposites, the romance could've been believable. I was scratching my brains out, trying to understand why there are two stories that have nothing in common (Colby's and Beverly's), but eventually, it unfolds and the truth is told from Colby's perspective.

The ending felt sped up, and as if the author ran out of time so it felt superficial.

One of my favorites by Nicholas Sparks. I would highly recommend this one on audiobook. The multiple voices and beautiful music they incorporated was a nice addition to a beautiful story. It has a twist I never saw coming which is a bonus for me!

I just love Nicholas Sparks writing. I really enjoyed this read and came with some unexpected endings in multiple ways. The whole time I was trying to piece together what/who was going on and how it all fit. It was a fantastic read!

This jumped to a top spot in my favorite Nicholas Sparks books. At first I was so confused as to who Beverly was and why we were getting her story. I thought this was going to be similar to “The Longest Ride” where the two separate stories are told but come together beautifully towards the end. This was not that kind of story!

My jaw is still on the floor! With Nicholas Sparks.. I feel like you pretty much know what you’re in for when you sign up to read one of his books. This one has me shocked! Like was not expecting the twist! I assumed that the the two different points of view (Colby & Beverly) were connected somehow.. maybe related.. or somehow like Ira and Luke (The Longest Ride) but was not expecting them to connect like they did! I had some guesses along the way but was not fully correct in guessing.. and I’m glad. I love the way the story unfolded and I would reread for sure!

I found it difficult to connect with the characters and found the romance between Colby and Morgan bland. I enjoyed the early Beverly chapters a bit more than the Colby ones. The ending was something you could easily see coming.
