Lady Georgina Maitland is very rich, considering the large estates and money left to her by her aunt. She has been referenced a good steward to help her run her lands while she lives her comfortable life in London. But once she sees him, Harry Pye, she knew he was more than a steward. she wanted him (honestly, this fact was one of the reasons I really loved this book and the characters. She knew what she wanted from the beginning and she went for it).

From the very first night they shared in a cabin away from the rain and wreckage of her carriage, she knew she had to be careful of him. When she finds out the rumours about him, she was sure that he was unable to poison sheep and murder the people in the village. Soon everyone was against Harry Pye return to town since he has a dark history with the town's magistrate.

Even though Georgina knew she would be caught in the crossfire, she decided to go for what she wants. Harry. When she tells him that she wants them to have a sexual relationship, he lays it on the table. Harry would not be subjected to her whims, he would not come when she commands and made her know that.

I am trying not to spoil this book because it is my favourite in the series. I hope you check it out.

This was recommended as a feminist romance novel. Maybe. Still not that great.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this novel. The female lead was great. The enemy was pretty scary, and there was some mystery. Harry was a bit lackluster. I'd have preferred to see a more forceful characterization. I liked his London friends.

Just like the Raven Prince, this book is incredibly well written. The story feels very unique. I really like how Hoyt uses the terminology of the time period, it's very immersive. I loved how the fairytale of the leopard prince was woven in. I also really loved the FMC as a character - which is rare for me. She is funny and relatable and someone I would love to be friends with. The MMC was pretty good too, but felt a little flat compared with the FMC. As far as the spice...it's a little vanilla for me, but overall a fun read and I'm excited to read the last book in the trilogy next.

4.5 stars. I think this might be my favorite HR trope - aristocratic lady with a commoner hero. I'm a huge fan of strong women and obviously bucking social expectations makes for strong women.

The heroine of this story, Georgina, is quirky and independently wealthy due to an inheritance from her aunt. She travels to her Yorkshire estate at the request of her younger sister and becomes intrigued by her land steward, Harry, on the trip. Unfortunately she finds out the same land steward is facing accusations of killing sheep from a neighboring aristocrat.

Harry and Georgina are both far from the norm but work well together. Both are very brave and intelligent. Just pesky societal expectations and accusations are get in the way.

A very sweet and sexy read!

Didn’t care much for this. I didn’t get the connection between George and Harry. And the rest of the plot was just boring.
